Jaipur : While responding to the discussion on water in Rajasthan Assembly, Water Supply Minister Kanhaiya Lal Chaudhary admitted that there is so much corruption in the department, if action is taken against the employees at the lower level, not even one will be spared. He said that so far more than 40 officers have been suspended in corruption cases.
There were irregularities during Congress rule, due to which we lost 11 seats.
The minister said that during the Congress rule, there were a lot of irregularities in Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM), for which we have been punished and we lost 11 seats in the Lok Sabha elections. He said that due to the slow pace of work done during the Congress government, Rajasthan is at 33rd position in Jal Jeevan Mission. The minister said that Congress has only done politics in the name of ERCP for 5 years. Our government signed an MoU with Madhya Pradesh in Delhi as soon as it came to power. Under this, the state will get 3400 MCM water. DPR is being prepared in Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh regarding the scheme, it is estimated that Rs 48 thousand crore will be spent on the scheme, in which 90 percent amount will be given by the Central Government. The minister said that Rajasthan has about 10 percent of the country’s area and about 5.50 percent of the country’s population resides here, but about 1.30 percent of the country’s total water is available here.

We are working on the DPR of the Brahmani River Project for Jaipur. This project is 148 km long, in which a 16 km tunnel will be built. It is expected that around Rs 8000 crore will be spent on this.
In Jal Jeevan Mission, the previous government constructed tube wells and tanks without the availability of water. Out of 93 thousand 426 crores, only 19 thousand 336 crores were spent in the scheme.
The hand pumps under the water supply and panchayati raj departments in the state will now be under the same department. This will end the confusion regarding hand pumps.
