Jaipur : The central government has started the PM Surya Ghar Mukt Bijli Yojana to free poor families from electricity bills. Under this, 300 units of electricity are to be given free every month. More than 9 lakh houses in Rajasthan will get 300 units of free electricity. Panchayati Raj institutions have been given the responsibility for this. Gram Panchayats will be provided incentive amount of Rs 1000 per house, which will be spent on the development of the Gram Panchayat. Secretary of Rural Development Panchayati Raj Department Ravi Jain has given instructions to the CEO of all the Zilla Parishads.
More than 9 lakh houses will get benefit
PM Surya Mukt Bijli Yojana was launched in February 2024. Under this, 300 units of electricity are to be given free in rural areas. 9 lakh 27 thousand 901 houses in rural areas of Rajasthan will get its benefit. Solar rooftops will be installed on the roof of every house.
Target set from July to December
The target has been set to provide free electricity to 46 thousand 395 houses in July, 1 lakh 85 thousand 580 houses in August, 3 lakh 71 thousand 160 in September, 5 lakh 56 thousand 40 houses in October, 7 lakh 42 thousand 320 houses in November and 9 lakh 27 thousand 901 houses in December.
