Jaipur : After twenty years of dispute, finally an MoU was signed on Sunday between Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan on the 72 thousand crore Parvati-Kalisindh-Chambal interstate river link project. There were differences at many levels between the two states on the project proposed since 2004. The people and farmers of drought affected districts of both the states had to bear the brunt of this. The Mohan government that came to power six months ago and Bhajanlal government of Rajasthan resolved the disputes and the pending disputes under the leadership of the Center ended. A state level program was held on Sunday in the presence of Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav and Rajasthan CM Bhajanlal Sharma in Minto Hall of the capital Bhopal. In this, the legal action regarding the project was completed.
Both states will become water-rich
CM Dr. Mohan Yadav said, there were small differences. These could have been resolved earlier. But it did not happen. Our people and farmers kept getting troubled. We thought seriously and started from January itself. We removed the obstacles. Now both the states will become water-rich. We will also create new dimensions in new areas. CM Bhajanlal Sharma said, due to the obstruction of the then Congress government of Rajasthan, many generations had to live with less water than required. Now we will not look back.
The project at a glance
The project is worth Rs 72 thousand crores. Madhya Pradesh will spend Rs 35 thousand crores and Rajasthan will spend Rs 37 thousand crores. 3.37 lakh hectares of land in Madhya Pradesh will be irrigated and 30 lakh farmers and their families will benefit. Rajasthan will irrigate 2.80 lakh hectares and more than 2 lakh farmers and their families will benefit. 13 districts on both sides will be benefited. 17 dams will be constructed in the project, whose water storage capacity will be 1477.62 million cubic meters. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will soon lay the foundation stone of the said project.

21 districts in Rajasthan will benefit greatly from the Parvati-Kalisindh-Chambal interstate river link project. These include Jaipur, Jhalawar, Baran, Kota, Bundi, Sawai Madhopur, Ajmer, Tonk Dausa, Karauli, Alwar, Bharatpur, Dholpur, Gangapur City, Beawar Kekri, Dudu Kotputli-Baharod, Khairthal-Tijara, Deeg and Jaipur Rural.
