Gorakhpur, 28 November (IANS). Gorakhpur, which was struggling with the crisis of industrial identity till barely seven-eight years ago, has now taken steps towards becoming the industrial hub of Purvanchal. For the last few years, Gorakhpur is emerging as a favorite destination for investors with GIDA at its center.
In view of the increasing demand from entrepreneurs for setting up industries, an industrial corridor is being developed by GIDA (Gorakhpur Industrial Development Authority) on 800 acres on both sides of the Gorakhpur Link Expressway. Along with this, the action plan to build an industrial corridor in 5,500 acres in Dhuriapar is also taking shape.
GIDA Chief Executive Officer Anuj Malik said, “As per the intention of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, GIDA is being developed as an excellent industrial area. By expanding the land bank, plots are being made available to investors as per their choice. In the coming days, letters of allotment of plots to 85 investors will be handed over to the Chief Minister in the 35th Foundation Day of GIDA. A flatted garment factory will also be provided. Apart from this, land acquisition work for 5,500 acre Dhuriyapar Industrial Corridor is going on at a fast pace.
The 35th foundation day of GIDA will be celebrated on 30th November. In the journey of 35 years, GIDA’s pace was quite slow for about 28 years. Due to lack of infrastructural facilities for entrepreneurs, lack of law and order, effective policies to encourage investors, investors were not getting enthusiastic towards GIDA sector at the pace which was expected at the time of establishment of GIDA in 1989. The situation has completely changed since 2017 after Yogi Adityanath became the Chief Minister. When investors and entrepreneurs got favorable working environment and encouragement from the government, their inclination towards GIDA also increased rapidly.
Keeping in view the inclination of investors, as per the intention of CM Yogi, GIDA is developing industrial corridors on both sides of Gorakhpur Link Expressway. This industrial corridor is being established on 800 acres. Industries have also started coming up in the Industrial Corridor. For example, Varun Beverages, a franchisee of multinational brand PepsiCo, has invested Rs 1,100 crore and set up 3 bottling plants. A plastic park is being developed on 88 acres by GIDA in the industrial corridor. Here space and all necessary infrastructure facilities will be available for 92 units of plastic industry. This will provide employment to about 5,000 persons.
GIDA has already taken action to allot plots to many entrepreneurs in Plastic Park. Not only this, the entrepreneurs setting up units in the Plastic Park will not have to worry about raw materials. The units of Plastic Park will get raw material from GAIL (Gas Authority of India Limited) at the project site itself. For this, an MOU has been signed between GIDA and GAIL. In the Plastic Park, GIDA has also made arrangements to provide 5 acres of free land for the center of Central Institute of Plastics Engineering and Technology (CIPET) at the project site. With the opening of CIPET’s centre, the units being established in the Plastic Park will be assured of availability of skilled artisans and will also be able to ensure the quality of the products being manufactured by them.
