Jaipur : The government is now going to make a big change in the government recruitment examinations in Rajasthan. For some time now, there has been a huge decrease in the attendance of candidates in the recruitment examinations conducted for government jobs. On an average, less than 60 percent of the candidates are appearing in the examinations of Rajasthan Staff Selection Board and Rajasthan Public Service Commission, due to which the state government has to bear additional expenses of conducting the examinations.
Under what circumstances has the Rajasthan government planned to implement the application fee?
Under these circumstances, now the Rajasthan government is considering re-introducing the application fee for competitive examinations. Earlier, under the One Time Registration Scheme launched by the Congress government, candidates were exempted from examination fees. But now a proposal has been sent by the government to end it. If this decision is implemented, it may have an adverse impact on about 2 crore unemployed people of the state.
How much does the government spend per candidate for an examination?
According to Rajasthan Staff Selection Board, the average expenditure per candidate is Rs 600. These expenses cover all aspects from conducting the examination to printing the papers, rent of examination centres, transportation and teachers’ duties. But when candidates remain absent in the examination, this expense increases. Board officials say that many times candidates apply for several examinations simultaneously, but do not appear in even one examination, which leads to wastage of government resources.
Unemployed youth protested against the government’s decision
However, this decision of the government is being opposed by the unemployed. Hanuman Kisan of Rashtriya Freedom Union has termed it as a fraud on the unemployed and demanded that it should not be implemented. He says that the condition of the unemployed is already bad, and now their problems will increase further with this additional fee.
What did the Chairman of Rajasthan Staff Selection Board say?
Rajasthan Staff Selection Board Chairman Alok Raj said that implementing the application fee will increase the responsibility of the candidates and they will be more serious towards taking the examination. However, the final decision on this proposal will be taken by the government soon.
Crisis on youth facing financial crisis in search of job
Overall, this decision may create a new crisis for the unemployed, as they are already facing financial constraints in search of jobs. With this step of the government, while on one hand an attempt is being made to control the expenses of the examination, on the other hand it can become another challenge for the unemployed.
