Srinagar, November 15 (IANS). Farooq Abdullah, head of the ruling National Conference in Jammu and Kashmir, while talking to journalists on Thursday, spoke in detail on the issues related to the Union Territory.
Farooq Abdullah said, “This is a time of great challenge for us, and we all know how our society is being ruined. This waste is visible everywhere. From hospitals to schools, where things did not run properly, the institutions which were already running are not in good condition. The crisis of clean water has also increased, and as a result health problems are arising somewhere. For example, a disease like jaundice has started spreading in a village in Kulgam because people are not getting access to clean water. “Such a situation is being seen in the entire area, and it is true that the condition of the roads is also not good.”
He further said, “There are so many issues and problems and the government should not delay in solving them. Many steps are being taken to restore statehood, and due to the initiative of Omar (Abdullah) Sahib, this work is being done at a rapid pace. He has met the Prime Minister, Home Minister, and other officials, so that solutions to the problems here can be found. He is constantly trying to improve the condition of the state, so that the people here can live better.”
The NC chief said, “Our aim is that the people here should get the benefits of development in the right way. To improve the condition of our area, there is a need to improve the contractors also. Especially when it comes to our local laborers not getting work, the question arises whether our people cannot work in their own areas? Are they not efficient enough to not need outside contractors? Whatever contractors have come so far, they are mostly from outside, and this is a big question for us. We need to provide work to people at the local level, so that they have employment and can stay and work in their area.”
He further said, “Let’s talk about Batot, which is a very beautiful and peaceful place. Batot has amazing weather, and the natural beauty is such that it deserves to be put on the tourism map. Our endeavor is to develop Batot as a tourist destination, so that the travelers who go to see the snowy hills of Kashmir can also stay here and enjoy the beauty of Batot. “The beauty here can be presented in a better way, and this place can also boost the local tourism industry.”
