GRP recovered cash worth Rs 25 lakh from the youth at DDU Junction

Chandauli, 24 November (IANS). GRP on Sunday recovered cash worth Rs 25 lakh from a youth while checking on the foot over bridge of Pt. Deendayal Upadhyay (DDU) Junction. GRP arrested the youth and during interrogation he could not give any concrete reason for the cash.

The accused has been identified as Alok Kumar Dubey, a resident of 24 Parganas, West Bengal. He was carrying cash from Varanasi to West Bengal. GRP has given information about the recovered money to the Income Tax Department.

Prayagraj Section CO GRP Kunwar Prabhat Singh said that on Sunday, GRP in-charge Inspector Sunil Kumar Singh and his team were doing intensive checking on the stairs of the foot over bridge of DDU railway station.

During this time the team saw a suspicious person. He was stopped and interrogated. He told his name as Alok Kumar Dubey. Also said that he is a resident of 24 Parganas of West Bengal. He had a bag with him, when it was searched, cash worth Rs 25 lakh 30 thousand was recovered from it. When he was questioned about keeping and carrying this amount of money, he could not show any documents.

He further said that the Income Tax Department has been informed in this regard. Necessary action is being taken. The investigation so far has revealed that this is hawala money. Alok was taking this money from Banaras to West Bengal.

Let us tell you that along with the Inspector in-charge, the GRP team included SI Jitendra Kumar Maurya, Head Constable Nirbhay Singh, Constable Anup Kushwaha.
