Guarantee of judicial impartiality and legal reputation in Macao

Beijing, December 9 (IANS). Over the past 25 years since its return to China, the Macao Special Administrative Region has experienced rapid economic growth, maintained social stability and improved the quality of life for its residents. The Court of Final Judgment is the highest court in Macau, exercising the final adjudication authority set out in the Basic Law.

Court chief Song Minli said that during these 25 years, the Macao Court has consistently upheld the authority of the Chinese Constitution and the Basic Law of Macao, while ensuring the implementation of the “one country, two systems” policy.

He stressed that Macau’s legal system has improved since the territory’s return to China. The judicial system operates independently, allowing judges and prosecutors to perform their duties without interference. This independence has ensured judicial impartiality and upheld legal reputation, significantly enhancing Macao residents’ understanding of and confidence in the judiciary.
