Hanumangarh : Citizens of Bishnoi community expressed anger over the cutting of Khejri trees in Kishanpura Dikhanada village of the district. Enlightened citizens of the society submitted a memorandum to the ADM demanding action against the people cutting trees. It was told in the memorandum that Khejri trees have been cut under the guise of approval of other trees by the Gram Panchayat Sarpanch.

The Khejri tree is not only the state tree of Rajasthan but also a symbol of the cultural and spiritual identity of the Bishnoi community. The sentiments of Bishnoi community have been hurt by cutting Khejri trees.

Advocate Ramkumar Bishnoi said that cutting the Khejri tree is a legal offense and the approval of the district administration is mandatory for it. Despite this, the Sarpanch disregarded this law and got the Khejri trees cut. Those who submitted the memorandum included Judo coach Vineet Bishnoi, Arvind Bishnoi, Ramnarayan Bishnoi, Vimal Kirti Bishnoi, Anil Bishnoi, Omprakash Bishnoi, Ajay Bishnoi, Ashok Bishnoi, Sanjay Bishnoi, Mohan Lal Yadav, Sunil Suthar, Sunil Chahar, Kamlesh Bhadu.
