Hanumangarh : Junction police station on Wednesday arrested three accused in the case of extorting money from a minor girl by threatening to register a false case of rape. All three have been arrested on production warrant from the district jail. Investigating officer DSP Meenakshi said that on October 30, Jairam (38), son of Birbalram, resident of village Jandwala Sikhan, lodged a case in the Junction police station through a report that about a month ago, Lalchand and Ramjas, residents of Dholipal, came to the house of a woman of his village and raped her. They took the minor daughter with them on the pretext of getting her a job as a nurse. About 15 days later, Ramjas called Jaskaran Singh of the same village and informed that he was registering a case of rape of a minor against Jairam, son of Birbalram and Shravan Kumar, son of Balram.
Next day again Ramjas and Lalchand called and said that they will register a case of rape against Jairam and Shravan Kumar in Sangaria police station or they will hush up the matter by paying money. In the name of agreement, Ramjas and Lalchand demanded eight lakh rupees and asked to come to Hanumangarh and meet them. Ramjas and Lalchand met at a place in Hanumangarh. Pooja and Draupadi Meghwal, who claimed to be lawyers, were also with him. He demanded eight lakh rupees, but expressing his inability to have that much money, he and Shravan Kumar gave one lakh rupees. According to the report of investigating officer Meenakshi, a case was registered and investigation was started. Seeing the seriousness of the incident, Superintendent of Police Arshad Ali gave necessary instructions for the immediate arrest of the accused.
