Hanumangarh : The bodies of the husband and wife who fell into the Indira Gandhi Canal along with their car in Hanumangarh have been recovered after 21 hours. According to the police, preliminary investigation suggests suicide. However, the situation will become clear only after complete investigation. Both were in depression after the death of their son. Sangriya CO Karan Singh said that the car was taken out at 12 noon on Saturday. The bodies of a man and a woman have been recovered from the car. They have been identified as Madan Singh (36), son of Pal Singh Rajput and Mamta (32), wife of Madan Singh Rajput, residents of Kanau, Gogamedi. Deceased’s cousin Lal Singh has identified the deceased. Both were in depression after the death of their son.
SP Arshad Ali said – Information about a car falling into Indira Gandhi Canal in Talwara Lake police station area of Tibbi tehsil was received on Friday afternoon at 3.30 pm. To search for it, a rescue operation was carried out for a long time in the night. The car was taken out on Saturday morning, in which the bodies of the husband and wife were found. Prima facie what has emerged in the investigation seems to be suicide. Their 17-year-old child had died a year ago. Since then both were in depression. As of now it seems that the car has been deliberately thrown into the canal. This does not appear to be any kind of accident nor is it a common route. Due to which it seems that it is suicide. Based on the report of the remaining family members, a case will be registered and investigation will be done. The real reason will be revealed only in the investigation.
CO Karan Singh said – At around 3.30 pm on Friday afternoon, a car was going from Rathikheda bridge towards Surewala-Bani bridge on the track of Indira Gandhi Feeder Canal. As soon as the car reached near RD-631 of the feeder, it went out of control and fell into the canal. The bike rider walking behind the car saw the car falling into the canal and informed the farmers.
