Jaipur News Desk: At Jaipur SMS Hospital, doctors have been successful in performing successful surgery of a woman who had undergone heart transplant. This is the first such case in the state, when surgery has been done on a heart transplant person. Doctors of General Surgery Department have performed laparoscopy surgery. The woman is completely healthy 17 days after surgery. 42-year-old Dhauli Devi, a resident of Kotputli, was complaining of stomach ache for the last one year. Even after several tests, the reason could not be found and finally the CT scan revealed the presence of ovarian tumor. Dr. Kankaria told that carbon dioxide gas is used inside the stomach, which can put pressure on the heart. This is very risky for heart transplant patients. Therefore special attention had to be paid. It is known that the woman had a heart transplant on June 24, 2022.
Dr. Jeevan Kankaria, senior surgeon of SMS General Surgery, planned diagnostic laparoscopy to remove the tumor. It had the potential for less pain, smaller incisions, quicker recovery and early discharge. But since the woman was on immunotherapy, giving anesthesia was also a big challenge. In such a situation, the team of surgery, cardiac surgeon and anesthesia decided to perform the surgery.
This surgery was done on 5th November and liquid diet was given from the very next day. Only 48 hours later the patient was referred to the cardiothoracic surgery department. The woman became completely healthy within a week. The team of cardiac surgeon Dr. Rajkumar Yadav and Dr. Sunil Chauhan helped in the surgery. With the help of the team, the lumps formed in the ovaries were removed. The surgery took about two hours.
