Jaipur : On the very first day of August, the monsoon became more active than expected. Clouds rained heavily in the districts of eastern Rajasthan including Jaipur. Many districts including Jaipur, Dausa, Alwar, Tonk, Bharatpur, Baran received rain. According to the Water Resources Department, the highest rainfall in the state in the last 24 hours was recorded in Jaipur at 290 mm (11.6 inches). At the same time, this figure was 226.7 mm at the airport. This is said to be the first rainfall of the season and the highest rainfall after 1981. Earlier, on 19 July 1981, 326 mm (13 inches) of rain had occurred. Jaipur was flooded on this day.

The rain started at around 12 o’clock on Wednesday night and continued till Thursday morning. The rain that started in the evening continued till late night. Jaipur has recorded 188 mm of rain in August so far. The heavy rain will continue in the entire state till August 5. A peak alert for extremely heavy rain has been issued in Ajmer on Friday. In view of the heavy rain, Collector Prakash Rajpurohit has declared a holiday in government and non-government schools in Jaipur city on Friday.

Rain wreaks havoc, 4 dead

The rain wreaked havoc for the people in the capital on Thursday early morning and took the lives of four people. Three people died after water filled in the basements of two houses of Piyush Acharya in Dhwaj Nagar located at Vishwakarma Road No. 17. 23-year-old Kamal Shah, originally a resident of Sijpura in Bihar, Pooja Saini, a resident of Bihiya in Bihar and her 5-year-old cousin Purvi, a resident of Ghazipur in Bihar, died in the accident. CM Bhajanlal Sharma has announced assistance of Rs 5 lakh each to the families of three people who died due to drowning in VKI in the capital. Governor Haribhau Kisanrao Bagde expressed deep grief over the death of citizens due to heavy rains in Jaipur.

Parkota: Water entered the houses

Water flowed like a river in many areas of the fort. As soon as we came out of the garden of Mangodi people of Brahmapuri, the situation looked very bad. Rainwater had entered many houses. After the rain stopped, household waste was seen spread on the roads. The potholes on the roads at Subhash Chowk Circle were not visible. In such a situation, a child narrowly escaped falling from a bicycle.

Jhotwara: Water everywhere

Due to lack of proper drainage system on Jhotwara’s Khatipura Road, the roads were filled with rainwater on Thursday. There was a bad situation due to traffic jam on the road. At the same time, due to rainwater on Hasanpura Road, dirt was also seen on the road.

More than 40 places are blocked, major underpasses are also filled with water

Once again, heavy rains in the capital disrupted the traffic system from Thursday morning to afternoon. Due to waterlogging at many places including the major underground routes of the city (Malviya Nagar Nandpuri and Sahakar Marg), people had to take long detours. JP Phatak and Sahakar Marg underpasses were filled with water. JDA installed mud pumps to drain out the water. On the instructions of Police Commissioner Biju George Joseph, traffic policemen were called on duty at 5 am for smooth traffic system in the city and the team of Nirbhaya Squad and police from all police stations were deployed to help them.

Jaipur International Airport flooded with water, pilot on trolley

The porch area of ​​Jaipur International Airport was flooded with water. This has raised questions on the drainage of the airport. Due to the rain, the luggage of some passengers also got wet. Not only this, water from the porch also entered the Aravail hall, which was pumped out using a motor pump. Meanwhile, late at night, due to bad weather in Delhi, the American Airlines flight from New York to Delhi could not land. It was diverted to Jaipur. The passengers were sent to Delhi by road instead of other flights.

Rail traffic affected for two and a quarter hours, 16 trains ran late
Due to heavy rains, rail traffic was affected at Jaipur Junction, Gandhinagar, Durgapura and other railway stations. The tracks were submerged in water at Jaipur Junction and Gandhinagar station. Due to which, a total of 16 trains including Yoganagari-Ahmedabad train, Chandigarh-Ajmer Vandebharat, Udaipur-Khajuraho, Sri Ganganagar-Jhalawar could leave with a delay of one and a half to two hours from 4 am to 6:15 am. Passengers faced problems in commuting. They also faced problems in booking autos and cabs.
