Heavy rains wreak havoc in Rajasthan, roads flooded, normal life affected

Jaipur : During the last 24 hours, many districts of Rajasthan witnessed heavy rain. Heavy rain was recorded at many places in Jaipur, Dausa, Sawai Madhopur, Chittorgarh, Pratapgarh, Banswara, Kota, Bundi, Baran, Tonk, Jodhpur, Jalore and Pali districts. Meanwhile, heavy to very heavy rainfall was recorded at some places in Udaipur, Bhilwara and Barmer districts. The highest rainfall in the state was recorded at Rishabhdev in Udaipur at 202 mm (eight inches). Gudamalani in Barmer of western Rajasthan received 147 mm (5.88 inches) of rain.

In Udaipur, Sisarma village was flooded due to 24 hours of rain, while the bridge broke due to the strong current of Morwania river. This disrupted traffic. Here, the Ahmedabad highway was also flooded, causing a jam. The jam was cleared after about 6 hours. Similarly, in Jodhpur, 90 mm of water fell in the city in one hour. Due to the rain, most of the roads, streets, neighborhoods, intersections became ponds. Due to the overflowing of Gangana pond, the houses built in the flood area were flooded. Many colonies were flooded. In many areas of the city, the water did not recede till evening. Chawanda village became an island. Police and SDRF personnel took 50-55 innocent children home safely with the help of a boat. The soil below the Tinwari-Osiya railway track was washed away in the water. The tracks swung in the air for about 20 meters. A train on this route was diverted. Some trains were also cancelled. In Alwar’s Bhiwadi, six inches of rain fell in two hours and in Kotakasim, two inches of rain fell. The drains of Bhiwadi could not bear the rainwater and they overflowed. Due to this, the roads turned into rivers.

Beneshwar Dham again turned into an island

Dungarpur Sabla Vagad Prayag Beneshwar Dham has once again turned into an island. After opening the gates of Mahi Dam and Som Kamala Amba Dam, the inflow of water has increased in Som and Mahi rivers. Due to which Beneshwar Dham has turned into an island for the second time in a week. In such a situation, due to closure of all the three roads connecting the Dham, the Dham’s connection with Dungarpur and Banswara districts along with the nearby villages was cut off. More than 25 devotees including priests of the temple are present at the Dham. All are safe.

Nainwan received 4 inches of rain, Dugari village in a flood-like situation

Nainwan in the Bundi district received about 4 inches of rain in two hours at night. Due to the rain, one and a half feet high water flowed over the Kanak Sagar dam in Dugari, and water entered the village, creating flood-like conditions. Due to the closure of traffic from all sides, water filled the lower settlements, main market and nearby houses. In Suwania village also, a flood-like situation prevailed due to the entry of wastewater from the pond into the village. In Balkasa village of the Kapren area, a concrete house was damaged due to lightning striking it along with heavy thunder at night.

The car fell into the river from the slip, three people including grandfather and granddaughter were rescued safely

The river overflowed in Jodhpur’s Chawanda village and a Bolero fell into the river from the landslide. The lives of three people including grandfather and granddaughter were in danger. After struggling for about 45 minutes, the villagers took out all three safely one by one with the help of JCB and rope. Police officer Devichand Dhaka said that the granddaughter of Balusingh Bhati, a resident of Basni Bhatiyan village under Mathania police station, had an exam in JNV University on Wednesday.

The rainy season will continue

According to the Meteorological Department, the low pressure area formed over Madhya Pradesh has weakened and has turned into a cyclonic circulation. Currently, it is located over the South-Eastern Rajasthan region. Another new low pressure area is likely to form in the Bay of Bengal in the next 24 hours. Due to its effect, monsoon is likely to remain active in most parts of Eastern Rajasthan for the next 4-5 days and heavy rain activities are likely to continue at some places. There is a possibility of rain with strong winds in Kota city from 5 to 7 September. Heavy rain may occur on 8 September.
