New Delhi, December 1 (IANS). There has been an increase in the sales of cars and SUVs in the domestic market in November. During this period, wholesale sales of Maruti Suzuki, Tata Motors and Toyota Kirloskar have increased.
Maruti Suzuki’s total domestic passenger vehicle sales increased to 1,41,312 units in November this year from 1,34,158 units in the same period last year.
During this period, a record jump was recorded in the sales of SUV segment. Sales of Maruti Suzuki’s popular models like Brezza, Grand Vitara and Jimny increased from 49,016 units to 59,003 units in November 2023.
Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has reported monthly sales of 25,586 units in November 2024, up 44 per cent from 17,818 units sold in the same month last year.
Apart from this, the company also exported 1,140 units. “Our portfolio, spanning from hatchbacks to SUVs, offers mobility solutions to suit different lifestyles,” Sabri Manohar, vice president (sales-services-used car business), TKM, said in a statement.
He further said that the year 2024 has far exceeded the expectations of the company.
Tata Motors registered a 2 percent year-on-year growth in passenger vehicle sales in November this year, which stood at 47,117 units. However, the company recorded a 1 percent decline in commercial vehicle sales to 27,636 units.
The company’s total vehicle sales have increased marginally to 74,753 units in November 2024, compared to 74,172 units in November 2023.
The total sales of Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) in November 2024 stood at 61,252 units. During this period, the company’s domestic sales stood at 48,246 units, while 13,006 units were exported. However, a slight decline has been recorded in the company’s overall sales.
HMIL CEO Tarun Garg said, “In November, the company’s focus has been on strengthening its position in the SUV segment. Last month, this segment’s contribution to domestic sales was 68.8 percent. The company’s reach in rural areas of India also strengthened. 22.1% of total sales in November came from rural areas.”
He further said, “Our new HY-CNG technology led to strong CNG sales for HMIL. It contributed 14.4 per cent to the total sales in November.”
