Kota : The work of erecting effigies of Dashanan’s clan continued throughout the day on Friday before the Ravana Dahan to be held on Vijayadashami on Saturday in the National Fair Dussehra 2024. At around 9.30 pm, when the effigy of Ravana was being erected using a crane, the belt and rope of the crane broke and the effigy of Ravana fell from a height of 20 to 25 feet onto the tree with a crash. Due to this the back part of the head got damaged. During this time a large number of people were present. Although there was no loss of life, carelessness was taken in erecting the effigy. During this there was a commotion. This is probably the first incident of an effigy falling. The work of repairing the effigy was started late in the night. While erecting the effigy, a large number of people were gathered around and were taking videos and photos on mobile phones. The incident of Ravana’s effigy falling was also captured on mobile, which went viral on social media late at night. On the other hand, as soon as the news of the falling of the effigy spread in the city, a large number of people started reaching Vijayashree Theater at Dussehra Maidan.
The police evacuated the area around Vijayashree Theater and dispersed the people. People come every time for the ritual of throwing pebbles at the effigy of Ravana. A special police force was deployed. Keeping in view the forecast of the Meteorological Department, arrangements have also been made to protect the effigies of Ravana, Kumbhakarna and Meghnad from rain. This time Ravana Dahan will be done in an eco-friendly manner with green firecrackers.

Municipal Corporation Executive Engineer AQ Qureshi, who was present at the time of the incident, said that he was standing with the team at a distance from where the effigy was being erected. The effigies of Meghnad and Kumbhakarna were standing properly. There was light drizzle intermittently, hence we were worried. The eyes were going towards the sky again and again. At 9:30 pm, the effigy of Ravana was being erected by a crane, when suddenly the crane leaf broke. In a moment, the effigy of Ravana fell with a thud from a height of 20-25 feet. The structure of the effigy was made of bamboo, some part got damaged. After this the workers again started repairing. Ravana’s dress also got torn. That too is being rectified. A second crane has been ordered. Qureshi claimed that the effigy would be repaired in five-six hours. After that an effigy will be erected.

Fireworks in different parts of Ravana’s effigy will be controlled remotely through remote. Executive Engineer Qureshi claimed that the fall of the effigy will not have any impact on the eco-friendly fireworks of green crackers.

Ravana Dahan will be performed in the traditional manner at Vijayashree Theater located in the fair premises. For this, as per tradition, the procession of Lord Lakshminarayanji will leave from Garh Palace at 6 pm. According to the princely tradition, Jwara puja and Sitamata’s panna puja will be performed on the Dussehra grounds. After this, Ravana Dahan will be performed between 7.01 pm to 7.31 pm as per the scheduled time.
