Beijing, December 9 (IANS). Last month, 313 rail transit lines were launched in 54 cities in China, with a total length of 10,522.1 kilometers. According to the Chinese Ministry of Transport, passengers traveled 2 billion 71 crore times during this period.
Data shows the number of passengers last month was 6 crore less than in October, indicating a decline rate of 2.2%. However, this figure is 13 crore more than the same period last year, showing a growth rate of 5.2%.
Of the new lines, 255 subway and light rail lines were launched in 43 cities, with a total length of 9,054.1 kilometers. Passengers made 2 billion 62 crore journeys on these lines.
Additionally, 25 monorail, maglev and urban rapid rail transit lines began operating in 16 cities, covering a total of 970.7 kilometers, carrying 8 crore 36 lakh 50 thousand passengers.
Apart from this, 33 tram and automated guided rail lines were launched in 18 cities, having a length of 497.3 km and passengers made 1 crore 7 lakh 20 thousand journeys on these lines.
