HIL announces technical representative and umpire manager for 2024-25 edition

New Delhi, November 14 (IANS). The Hockey India League (HIL) has named Josh Burt as the technical representative and Colin French as the umpire manager for the 2024-2025 edition of the tournament, which will see global hockey stars playing for their respective franchises.

Burt has been umpiring in international tournaments since 2011 and has been part of the technical delegation for prestigious events such as the Men’s Junior World Cup in 2013, the Youth Olympic Games in 2014, the Hockey World League Semi-Finals in 2015 and 2017, the FIH Champions Trophy in 2012 and 2018 Are. He has also officiated at three Olympic Games, Rio, Tokyo and Paris 2024.

Speaking about his appointment, Burt said, “It is an honor and a privilege for me to be appointed the Technical Representative for the 2024/25 Hockey India League. I am very proud to note that Hockey India and the franchise have agreed to this The trust they have placed in me to ensure the success of this remarkable event is truly humbling and I am committed to maintaining the highest standards of professionalism, fairness and integrity throughout the tournament.”

Colin French, on the other hand, started his international umpiring career with the Oceania Cup in 2013. Since then he has officiated at the Trans-Tasman Trophy, Youth Olympic Games, FIH Hockey Pro League, Commonwealth Games 2018 and 2022. His career spanning over a decade includes officiating at the prestigious Men’s Hockey World Cup in 2023.

Speaking about his appointment, Colin said, “I am very excited and proud to be appointed as the Umpire Manager for the 2024/2025 Hockey India League.
