Historic decision of the court in two separate cases of rape of a minor in Jhalawar, one got life imprisonment and the other got 20 years in jail.

Jhalawar’s POCSO court gave different sentences in two cases of rape of a minor. In a case registered on September 18 last year, the accused was sentenced to life imprisonment and a fine of Rs 50,000. Whereas in the rape case registered on May 16, 2023, the accused has been sentenced to 20 years imprisonment and a fine of Rs 48 thousand. An associate of the accused who was sentenced to life imprisonment has been sentenced to 10 years imprisonment and a fine of Rs 20,000 and two other accused have been found guilty under the IT Act and have been sentenced to 3 years imprisonment.

Special Public Prosecutor Ramhetar Gurjar said that on September 18, 2023, the victim lodged a written report at Bakani police station that she had gone to Bakani Hospital for treatment. While coming out of the hospital, he met the accused, coaxed him and forcibly took him to the forest on a bike. The rape incident took place there. One of his friends, Balchand, recorded the video and other friends shared it on social media. Threatened to kill if he told anyone about this.

In the case of May 16 last year, the accused was sentenced to 20 years imprisonment.

In another case, the special judge of POCSO Court-1 on Thursday convicted the accused in a rape case and sentenced him to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment. The accused had lured the girl and took her to different places for two months and raped her. On this, the victim’s father lodged a report in the women’s police station. After this, the police arrested the girl and arrested the accused on 16 May 2023. Since then the accused was in judicial custody. The public prosecutor, appearing on behalf of the government, presented 16 witnesses and 20 documents. On the basis of which the court found the accused guilty and sentenced him to 20 years of imprisonment. On this, it was also recommended to provide an assistance amount of Rs 4 lakh under the Victim Compensation Scheme.
