Jodhpur : A horrific road accident in Jodhpur district has snatched away two lives and left a family in deep shock. The accident took place on the Megastate Highway in Pipar on Sunday night, when a trailer lost control of its speed and overturned on an Alto car while trying to save the cattle that suddenly came on the road. In this accident, a jeweler Khemraj Soni (36) and his wife Monica Soni (34) who were traveling in the car, died.
Parents were returning from nephew’s wedding
According to reports, Khemraj and his wife were returning from their nephew’s wedding ceremony when the accident occurred. The incident occurred near Malawas, 10 km from Pipar, where a bull suddenly appeared in front of the trailer. While trying to save the bull, the trailer driver hit the cut, due to which the trailer went out of control and overturned. The Alto car parked under the trailer was completely flattened, and both Khemraj and Monica were trapped inside the car.
Both were crushed under the trailer.
After the accident, a huge crowd gathered at the spot and the police was immediately informed. Police reached the spot with 108 ambulances and started relief work. The trailer was loaded with boxes weighing 60 tonnes filled with lime powder, due to which the Alto car was completely crushed. The help of 3 cranes and 2 JCB machines was taken on the spot to take out the dead bodies. After an hour of hard work, Khemraj and Monica were taken out of the car, but Khemraj died on the spot. Monica was immediately sent to Pipar Hospital, but she also died before reaching there.

Khemraj ran a jewelery shop in Merta City and his family had two small children. This accident has not only plunged the family of Khemraj and Monica into grief, but has also spread deep sorrow across the entire Sony community. His last rites will be performed in Merta city this afternoon. Normally a 10 wheeler trailer weighs around 30 tonnes. About 60 tonnes of goods were kept on it. The couple got buried under the total weight of about 9000 kg and their bodies were found in a very bad condition.
