Sikar : The protest of the affected people outside the Collectorate continued for the 6th day in protest against the removal of illegal encroachment on Nawalgarh culvert in Sikar. The affected people today took out an protest rally from the protest site to the Collectorate and submitted a memorandum to the Collector.
District President of Sikar Bar Association, Jagdish Gathala said – The district administration has demolished houses near Nawalgarh Pulia without legal process. Hundreds of families became homeless. People have been living there for 100 years and there is an 80 year old lease registry. In the last 80 years till date no single notice has been given to the people to remove encroachment. People are not against building the culvert, but they are against the administration demolishing more houses than necessary.
The Speaker said- There is a legal process for taking any action and that place also has to be acquired. For which the government gives compensation. But the government did not give any compensation to the affected people. The district administration is now calling the residents living near the culvert as trespassers. Everyone has registry and lease.
There is electricity and water connection, three-storey houses were demolished without giving them any chance. Our demand is that action should be taken against the officers who are guilty and assistance should be given to the affected people, otherwise there will be violent agitation in the coming days.
