Mumbai, November 24 (IANS). The ruling alliance ‘Mahayuti’ has got an overwhelming majority in the Maharashtra Assembly elections. BJP alone has achieved a historic victory on 132 seats.
The performance of Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena and Ajit Pawar’s NCP, included in the ‘Mahayuti’, has also been good. The alliance has won 236 seats in the assembly with a total of 288 members. Shiv Sena has won 57 seats and NCP 41 seats.
After this historic victory in Maharashtra, the discussion about the next Chief Minister of the state has started intensifying. Devendra Fadnavis is leading in the race for Chief Minister as BJP has emerged as the largest party with 132 seats. The winning MLAs of BJP also believe that Devendra Fadnavis should become the next Chief Minister of Maharashtra. At the same time, NCP leaders are in favor of making Ajit Pawar the next Chief Minister.
Amidst these discussions, Shiv Sena leader Bharat Gogavale told IANS on Sunday that a meeting is to be held regarding the next Chief Minister of Maharashtra in which the Chief Minister and both the Deputy Chief Ministers will be present. The name of the next CM will be decided in the meeting.
When asked who he would like to see as the Chief Minister, Gogavale said that the leader of every party feels that the Chief Minister should be from his party. I think that Eknath Shinde should become the Chief Minister once again.
Regarding the possibility of joining the cabinet in the next Maharashtra government, he said, “This time I am confident that I will get the ministry.”
