Giridih, 23 November (IANS). BJP state president and former Chief Minister Babulal Marandi has won the Dhanwar seat of Jharkhand. He has defeated Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) candidate Nizamuddin Ansari on this seat.
After the victory, Babulal Marandi said, “This is the victory of the public and the voters of the area. I thank them for this. The people of this area have given me the opportunity to serve again. I will try my best to live up to their expectations.” I am committed to serve the Dhanwar constituency once again.”
Regarding blaming EVMs in Maharashtra, he said that where the Congress party loses elections, it blames the defeat on EVMs and remains silent where it wins. This kind of thing is not right in democracy. Voting took place in both the states using EVMs. In such a situation, should we accept that the Congress-JMM alliance has done something wrong while in power? To get out of the disappointment of defeat, the Congress party keeps making such allegations.
He further said, “I congratulate Hemant Soren on his victory and accept the mandate of the people of Jharkhand. The election results have been unexpected, so we will review it in the coming days.”
BJP candidate Babulal Marandi has got 89,463 votes. JMM candidate Nizamuddin stood second on this seat. He has got 56,993 votes.
In the 2019 assembly elections, JVM’s Babulal Marandi won the election by defeating BJP’s Laxman Prasad by about 17,550 votes. In the 2014 assembly elections, CPI candidate Raj Kumar Yadav won the seat by defeating JVM’s Babulal Marandi by 10,712 votes.
Babulal Marandi had founded Jharkhand Vikas Morcha (Prajatantrik). Which he later merged with BJP. He has been a four-time Lok Sabha MP from Jharkhand. Marandi was also the Union Minister of State for Forest and Environment in the BJP-led NDA government from 1998 to 2000. He was appointed the President of Jharkhand BJP in July 2023.
