If Devendra Fadnavis becomes CM then home department should be given to Shiv Sena: Arun Sawant

Maharashtra, 4 December (IANS). BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis will take oath as the next Chief Minister of Maharashtra on December 5 at Azad Maidan. Amidst the preparations for the swearing-in, Shiv Sena of the Eknath Shinde faction, which is part of the Grand Alliance, has demanded the Home Department. This department was with Devendra Fadnavis in the previous Mahayuti government.

Shiv Sena leader Arun Sawant said on Wednesday that the Chief Minister is yet to be chosen. Devendra Fadnavis has been elected leader of the BJP legislature party today. On behalf of Mahayuti and Shiv Sena, I heartily congratulate him. I want to say that in the previous government, Devendra Fadnavis was in the role of Deputy CM and he had the Home Department. We had given him full support from our side. We want the transfer of ministries to take place in the same manner. Since it has now been decided that Devendra Fadnavis will be the next Chief Minister, we will get the post of Deputy CM. If Eknath Shinde becomes Deputy CM in this government, then we should have the Home Department and power should be exercised jointly.

He said that the name of the Deputy CM will be announced by Thursday. He has said that Eknath Shinde has clearly said from the beginning that whoever the high command and the three leaders of Mahayuti nominate as Chief Minister will get their full support, there is no objection from his side. He still stands by his statement and everything is progressing smoothly. The swearing-in ceremony is scheduled for Thursday and it seems Devendra Fadnavis will be the next chief minister.
