If elections are held honestly, BJP will lose on all seats: Imran Masood

Saharanpur, November 16 (IANS). Congress MP from Saharanpur seat of UP, Imran Masood expressed his reaction on many important issues on Friday. He openly expressed his opinion on many issues including by-elections to be held in UP, Waqf Amendment Bill, Sanatan Board.

Regarding the by-elections to be held on 9 seats of UP, Imran Masood said that if the elections are held honestly and the police do not interfere in the voting process, then BJP will have to face defeat on all the seats.

Imran Masood took on the BJP government on the issue of Waqf Board. He said that the bill that has been brought related to Waqf Board is completely unconstitutional. Imran Masood, citing the sections of the Constitution, said that these sections give freedom to citizens to perform religious activities, operate educational institutions and manage property. This bill brought for the Waqf Board is against these constitutional sections and cannot be accepted under any circumstances.

When asked about the demand for formation of Sanatan Board, he said that this is a new and unfair demand. If Sanatan Board is formed, will you also collect and manage the properties of places like Tirupati Temple, Badrinath Temple? Is this the intention? He warned that if this law is implemented, a situation like the Waqf Board will arise, in which the management of religious properties may come under government control.

While talking about the rights of Waqf properties, Imran Masood said that cases of occupation of 1 lakh 12 thousand acres of Waqf Board land have come to light in Karnataka. If this law is implemented, the lands of ancient mosques and cemeteries of the Muslim community can be snatched away. When these properties were not registered, how would they be accounted for now?

When asked on the issue of Kashmir, Imran Masood gave his reaction to the statement of former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah. Omar Abdullah had recently said that Jammu and Kashmir has suffered losses due to the Indus Water Treaty. On this, Imran Masood said that he has never taken much information about the Indus Water Treaty and he does not want to comment on this issue. At the same time, when asked about Mehbooba Mufti, he said that I will not make any comment about Mehbooba Mufti.
