Mumbai, 28 November (IANS). Maharashtra Congress is going to start a signature campaign against EVMs. Congress will take this campaign to the villages.
Congress leader Amit Deshmukh told IANS on Wednesday that the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) had achieved a significant lead in the Lok Sabha elections, but the results of the assembly elections were shocking. Even now, it is difficult to believe that such results came for Maha Vikas Aghadi. Voters have expressed doubt on this. Even the candidates who did not win have raised questions on it and those who won have also raised questions. Parties have expressed concern.
He said, “I feel that EVMs can be tampered with. The doubt that has arisen should be removed by the Election Commission. The signature campaign regarding EVMs will be run in Maharashtra. Maybe it can be run in the country also. ‘India’ Block Ballot If elections are held using paper ballot then there will be no scope of tampering. There are examples of this not only in India but also in other countries.
The Supreme Court, while rejecting a petition filed on EVMs, had said that EVMs are wrong only when they lose. The Congress leader has said that ‘India’ block has won the elections in Jharkhand, we are also saying there that elections should be held through ballot paper. If we have lost in Maharashtra, we are demanding elections through ballot paper.
The name of the Chief Minister is not being decided in Maharashtra. The Congress leader has said that Mahayuti had started with the slogan “If we are united then we are safe”. After getting majority they are not one. They will not be safe in the coming days.
On the signature campaign for ballot paper elections, Congress leader Naseem Khan has said that the way complaints are coming in Maharashtra, people want the elections to be conducted through ballot paper. Party’s national president Mallikarjun Kharge has clearly said that elections should be held through ballot paper. This reflects the sentiment of the people, as complaints have come from every assembly.
