If no consensus is reached in JPC on Waqf, decision will be taken on majority basis: Madan Rathore

Jaipur, November 29 (IANS). Bharatiya Janata Party’s Rajasthan state president Madan Rathod spoke to IANS on Friday. He gave his response to the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) formed on the Waqf Amendment Bill.

Responding to the debate on the Waqf Amendment Bill and the controversies raised in the JPC meetings, Madan Rathore said that the Waqf Board includes members from all parties and the JPC is a joint parliamentary committee, in which representatives of different parties are informed about the number of their members. is included in the ratio.”

He said, “It is completely wrong to say that there is no consensus in the JPC. The JPC is a part of a parliamentary process, in which decisions are taken on the basis of majority. As decisions are taken by majority in Parliament, Similarly, in JPC also, consensus is reached on the basis of majority.”

Rathod also said that unanimity is not necessary, but if anyone objects, it should be recorded in a proper manner. He said, “Representatives of all parties are involved in the matters of Waqf Board and JPC, but when consensus is not reached, the only solution is to adopt the path of majority.”

The JPC report was expected to be presented in the ongoing winter session of Parliament. But, the government has extended his tenure till the budget session.
