Nagpur, December 1 (IANS). Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh’s Sarsanghchalak Dr. Mohan Bhagwat has expressed concern over the decreasing population rate. He said that the decline in population growth rate is not good for the society.
Responding, he said, “The decline in population is a matter of concern. Modern population science says that when the population (fertility rate) of a society goes below 2.1, then that society disappears from the earth. In this way many languages and societies were destroyed. Population should not go below 2.1. The population policy of our country was decided in 1998 or 2002. It also says that the population of any society should not go below 2.1. The population growth rate of the country should be 2.1. This number is vital for society to survive.”
Emphasizing the importance of population growth, Mohan Bhagwat said that the birth rate of humans cannot be kept at 1 and hence at least 2 or 3 children should be born. Maintaining the correct population growth rate is important for the future of the country.
This statement of Mohan Bhagwat highlights that if the rate of population growth decreases too much then it can have a negative impact on the development, workforce and social structure of the country.
Speaking at the ‘Kathle Kul Sammelan’ in Nagpur, Bhagwat said this while underlining the importance of population as the cornerstone of social structure.
During this he said that family is a part of the society and every family is a unit. Family serves as the foundation of society and every family contributes to the society with its own characteristics and role.
