If the tenure of 6759 Sarpanches of Rajasthan will be extended then the boards of these 49 cities will be dissolved! Know what is the intention of the government?

Jaipur : The tenure of 49 urban governments (bodies) of Rajasthan will be completed this month. The possibility of handing over the command of these bodies to the administrator has increased. The government’s intention is to have one state, one election and this is not possible before the completion of the board’s tenure. In such a situation, instead of elections, the board will automatically dissolve. Although the government is trying to explore the possibility of extending the tenure, there is no provision for extending the tenure in the Indian Constitution and the Rajasthan Municipal Act. It is noteworthy that the government is exploring the possibility of holding simultaneous elections of urban bodies and panchayats under One State-One Election in Rajasthan, but no conclusion has been reached so far.

The tenure of 6,759 gram panchayats is also ending
The tenure of Gram Panchayats expiring in January 2025 can be extended. There is discussion going on in the government regarding this. However, the government has not yet taken any decision on this. The tenure of 6759 Gram Panchayats is ending in January. Reorganization of Gram Panchayats, Panchayats and District Councils will take place only after the decision on new districts. In such a situation, elections can be postponed till then.
No provision to extend tenure
-Article 243 of the Indian Constitution provides that the tenure of municipalities is for five years.
-Under Rajasthan Municipal Act Section 7, the tenure of the municipality will be 5 years, not more than that.
