Shri Krishna had given a boon
The history of Baba Shyam is linked to a mythological story of the Mahabharata period. In which Shri Krishna was pleased and gave a boon to the head of brave Barbarik that in Kalyug you will be worshiped in my Shyam name and only by remembering you, the devotees will get welfare. Once the king of Khatu Nagar was asked in a dream to build a temple and to adorn that head in the temple. During this time, he constructed a temple in Khatu Dham and beautified the Sheesh temple on the Ekadashi of Kartik month. The original temple was built in 1027 AD by Roop Singh Chauhan and his wife Narmada Kanwar. Abhay Singh, Diwan of Thakur, the ruler of Marwar, rebuilt the temple in 1720 AD on the instructions of Thakur, since then the shine of the temple remains the same till today. The recognition of the temple has been the highest among many temples of Baba. Baba Shyam’s temple located in Khatushyamji is the only temple in the country where only the head of the Lord is worshipped. People believe that Baba Shyam fulfills everyone’s wishes and can make even a pauper a king.
