Jaipur : The number of cars and sports vehicles is increasing continuously in the country, but due to lack of knowledge about the tyres of vehicles, many times road accidents occur. Speed rating is marked on all tyres, according to which the vehicle can be driven on the road. Most of the drivers are not aware of this, so there is a possibility of tyre bursting due to overheating and increased tyre pressure. In the country, tyre rating is also marked on passenger vehicles, that is, the bus cannot be driven above 150 km per hour. At the same time, normal sedan cars have tyres with ‘H’ rating, whose maximum speed limit can go up to 210 km/h. Luxury cars have ratings up to ‘Y’, which can be driven up to 300 km/h.
Information remains on the tyre
A series of information about the tyre is printed on the sidewall of the tyre.
For example, if 255/55R16, 90H is written then it tells about the size of the tyre.
255 is the tire’s width in millimeters. 55 is the aspect ratio, which describes the tire’s sidewall height as a percentage of the width.
R stands for the radial construction of the tyre.
16 stands for the width of the wheel in inches.
There are roads in the country like rural roads, state highways, national highways, expressways, on which speed limits are prescribed for the respective vehicles. Tyre manufacturing companies decide the maximum speed rating by looking at load, heat, pressure. Currently ‘H’ rating is the most common.
