The idol of Ganesh-Lakshmi ji is worshiped with full devotion and rituals with fruits, dry fruits, offerings, flowers, sticks etc. Prosperity is welcomed by decorating a certain number of places of worship and residence with as many lamps as possible. There are some essential steps of this worship, following which simplicity and true feelings of mind are important. The method of worship is simple and requires less items.

worship with Panchopachar

There are two methods of Diwali worship: Panchopachar and Shodashopachar. The parts of Shodashopachara are:

Padya, arghya, achaman, bath, clothes, jewellery, scent, flowers, incense, lamp, naivedya, achaman, tambul, stavapath, tarpan and namaskar. All these steps are necessary in this worship process.

The second is Panchopachar method.

This method is short and flawless and gives more success. Mantras and oracles are required in Shodashopachara. In Panchopachar, worship of the Goddess is done with the worship material, offering flowers, incense, offering Naivedya and Aarti. There is no need of a Pandit or a diviner in this puja.

Method of worship…

Arrange all the materials and keep them at the place of worship.
Place Goddess Lakshmi’s pan on the wall. Place a stool in front of it.
Make a Swastika on the post with turmeric and kumkum, keep it intact and spread a blank red cloth on it.
Place a round betel nut in the form of Ganesha, a pen in the form of Saraswati and a lotus or any red flower in the form of Lakshmi ji on the chowki. Place a coin near the flower. This coin should be kept safely after worship and should not be spent. This is a sign of increase in prosperity.
Decorate the puja plate, in which keep turmeric, kumkum, akshat, flowers, cotton, quince, coin and henna.
Purify the worship material with water.
The worshiper should prepare an unbroken lamp by filling it with oil and keep it on a little Akshat towards his right hand and light it, which should burn throughout the night.
Worship the lamp with turmeric, kumkum, flowers, rice and water. In Panchopachar method, there is no need to establish Kalash.
Now worship Lord Ganesha, Saraswati and Lakshmi to get it. Offer them turmeric, kumkum, akshat and flowers also. Also offer mehendi to Goddess Lakshmi. Offer coins, quince, sticks and cotton to Goddess Lakshmi and offer incense or incense sticks. Similarly, worship betel nut, flower and pen one by one.
Offer Naivedya and sit with closed eyes for some time and meditate on Goddess Lakshmi.
Open your eyes by clapping.
Pour oil into nine lamps, light them and keep them in a straight line around the temple.
Make a lamp of ghee and keep it in a plate and perform the Aarti of Goddess Lakshmi with this lamp while ringing the bell. Keep this lamp only during puja.
After Deep Aarti, do Aarti with camphor also.
After the puja, decorate the nine lamps kept in a row in the rooms and doors of the house.

Dhanteras is the first stop of Panch Parva.

Dhanteras is the auspicious time of Annapurna. Buying any kitchen related item on this occasion is good for family life. Buying scissors, knife, pan is prohibited. Bring useful items in the kitchen, worship them and use them on the next day or on the day of Annakoot. On this night, at the time of worship, three or thirteen lamps are lit and they are decorated outside the house.

Buying wedding and makeup items on this day is also considered auspicious. Anything from anklets to jewelery can be bought in precious metals. Worship it and wear it on the day of Diwali. If you are keeping it in front of Goddess Lakshmi on Diwali, then wear it on the day of Annakoot. Dhanteras is the day of Dhanvantari, hence donating medicines also gets special results on this day. Chyawanprash, oil, ghee, medicinal spices like turmeric etc. can be donated.

day of beauty

On the day of Roopa Chaudas, one should apply ubtan and take bath in the morning. Before lighting the fourteen lamps in the evening, a lamp of Yama is offered. It is a four-cornered flour lamp with four long oil lamps, which is placed at the south-west corner of the house. Do not place the wicks in this lamp in such a way that they go through each other. Each wick should be sticking out from one corner of the lamp and the rest of it should be in the middle. It is important to install this lamp carefully in a clean place. Let only that much oil burn, do not increase the oil. Later keep the lamp outside the house. After lighting this lamp, light fourteen lamps for the evening puja and decorate them outside.

Annakoot, the day of company of Lakshmi and Vishnu

Lakshmi and Vishnu are together on this day. On this day, the food items in Naivedya are kept more than what is offered during Diwali. Therefore, a provision for 56 offerings has also been made on this day. Kheer is not included in this offering. It is believed that Lord Vishnu is very fond of Kheer, so he offers only it and ignores the rest of the naivedya. Only after the worship of Annakoot, Diwali Prasad is distributed among the neighbors and acquaintances.
