Jodhpur : Meta on Friday announced a strategic collaboration with ‘INDIAai’ in the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) to advance open source AI innovation, R&D and skill development in India. This includes the establishment of Srijan, the Center for Generative AI at IIT Jodhpur and the launch of the ‘AI for Skilling and Capacity Building’ initiative in partnership with the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).
‘Research capacity will get a boost’
This partnership will enable development of indigenous AI applications and advanced skill development in AI. It will also boost research capabilities with an aim to contribute to India’s AI mission of ensuring technological sovereignty and the vision of tailor-made AI solutions for India. As part of its MoU with ‘IndiaAI’, with the aim of promoting the advancement of open source Artificial Intelligence (AI) in India, Meta today announced a strategic collaboration with IndiaAI at MeitY.

‘Will secure India’s position’
IT Secretary, S Krishnan, said the initiative will support India’s goal of becoming a US$5 trillion economy by preparing youth to lead in the global AI sector, and position India as a leader in technological advancement and economic growth. Will secure the situation. Krishnan said, ‘These initiatives are important in creating a strong ecosystem for unprecedented research, skill development and open-source innovation, advancing AI technology and ensuring its responsible and ethical deployment.’
Investment of Rs 750 lakh in 3 years
IIT Jodhpur will host India’s Generative AI Center of Excellence named ‘Srijan’. Meta has said to invest Rs 750 lakh (as donation) in a period of 3 years. The main objective of Srijan is to train 1 lakh young AI developers in 3 years.
