Pratapgarh : Pratapgarh These days illegal exploitation of ponds is being done indiscriminately in the district. In such a situation where the ponds are becoming empty. At the same time, the possibility of water problem has increased due to the pond becoming empty in the coming summer season. The fear of deepening water crisis, especially for cattle, has increased. These days, the existence of many birds that come on migration during the winter season is in danger. Concern is also increasing among environmentalists due to the emptying of the pond. Regarding this, environmentalists have demanded a ban on illegal exploitation of the pond.

It is noteworthy that theft of water from ponds has been increasing significantly in the last few years. Due to which the water in the ponds is already decreasing. Due to lack of water, these ponds become empty even during the summer season. Due to which the water problem becomes more serious. Migratory birds of many species are camping in these ponds in the district during the winter season. Due to which the environment here is quite attractive. Water is being stolen from Gautameshwar pond by a dozen motors

Arnaud. The main pilgrimage site of the district is Gautameshwar Mahadev and the main pond here which remains full throughout the year. This is the main pond of the area and due to the presence of water in it, waterfalls keep flowing throughout the year in the pond below in front of the Mahadev temple. The water from here remains in the drain in the forest. After years of curbing water theft, lotuses have started blooming here again. But some selfish elements are not liking all this and are busy exploiting the water of the pond day and night for their own interests. The situation is that five to ten electric motors are running here with illegal connections. The water of the pond is being transported to a distance of five to seven kilometers. Actually, the Electricity Corporation runs a campaign against those having illegal connections. But no action is taken against illegal motor vehicles running openly in broad daylight from Gauteshwar pond. In the past too, due to the efforts of the Mahant of Gautameshwar Mahadev Math, water remains in the pond for the last three years. Now it is being opened. Environment lovers and villagers have demanded from the District Collector and Sub-Divisional Officer, Tehsildar and Sarpanch and local MLA and Revenue Minister to immediately stop illegal water exploitation from Gautameshwar Mahadev pond. The villagers have demanded strict action against such selfish elements.
