Jaipur : Jaipur police has arrested a gang who used to break the locks of smart phones and change their IMEI numbers. During interrogation, it was revealed that they used to crack the numbers of those phones which customers used to buy on installments. The city’s Kotwali police took action in Raisar Plaza and arrested 4 accused. In this matter, DCP (North) Rashi Dogra Duddy revealed the entire case in a press conference. It was revealed that these people used to steal all this data from junk and exchanged phones.

IMEI number of more than 100 mobiles changed

DCP (North) Rashi Dogra Doodi said that IT Act accused Atul Gupta (36) resident of Suryanagar Gopalpura Mahesh Nagar, Lokesh Garg alias Lalu (30) resident of Mahavir Colony Extension Kartarpura Mahesh Nagar presently Mangyawas Mansarovar, Gautam Saini alias Golu (38) resident of Ravindra Nagar Jagatpura Pratap Nagar and Mahesh Murjani (53) resident of Sector-16 Pratap Nagar have been arrested. Earlier, Kotwali police station received information on the evening of June 30 that some shopkeepers in Raisar Plaza are involved in locking-unlocking mobiles and cracking IMEI numbers. Kotwali police station raided Raisar Plaza in collaboration with DST North. The four arrested accused have a mobile shop in Raisar Plaza located in Indra Bazaar. Police have seized computers, desktops, software devices for breaking locks and cracking IMEI numbers and more than 250 mobiles from the possession of the accused. Police have also found trace out records of IMEI numbers of more than 100 replaced mobiles from the possession of the accused.

They used to change the IMEI number of the phone taken on installment

During interrogation, the accused told that the customers who buy phones on installments and are not able to pay them on time, their phones get locked. In such a situation, these people used to break the lock of the mobile from the computer system and then change the IMEI number. They had software (UMT TOOL, MTK-2, NEW AMT, UNLOCK TOOL-2, BORNIO, ZWX) installed in the computer system. While they used hardware devices (hardware tool UFS, UFI, EASY JTAG) worth 20-25 thousand rupees. This entire work was done through hardware and software. The accused told that the mobile whose IMEI number was to be changed was first connected to the computer. After connecting to the computer, the entire phone was restored through these software. After this, when the details of the mobile were asked in it, the model number and other information were kept of the same phone. But when the software asked for the IMEI number, they would update it by entering the IMEI number of some old junk or exchanged phone.

The price starts from 2 thousand, the entry was made in the register

Police have also recovered a large number of old mobile phones from the shop of the four accused. A register has also been found with them. It contains details of 100 IMEI numbers, which have been updated by breaking the locks of other mobile phones. Apart from this, these people also kept damaged keypads and smart phones with them. The accused also had customers in Jaipur and Jaipur rural areas.
