Sambhal, 6 December (IANS). During the Friday prayers at the Shahi Jama Masjid located in Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh, Mamluk Rehman Burke, father of SP MP Ziaur Rehman Burke, said that we all want the situation to remain normal here.
Expressing regret over the violence that took place in the past, he said, “We all have to work together to ensure that such incidents are never seen again in the future. This effort will have to be made by all, Hindus and Muslims together.”
He said, “It would be good if the environment remains like this. Like we used to live with love earlier. Stay the same in the future also. We all just have to keep in mind that we follow the law. Do not oppose the law in any way.”
Along with this, remembering the Babri Masjid on 6th December, he said, “I am very sorry to say that Babri Masjid was martyred on this day. I would like that now no other mosque should be treated like this.”
At the same time, the people who came to offer Namaz at the Shahi Jama Masjid, while talking to the media, said that the Namaz was offered in a peaceful manner amidst heavy security arrangements. The security personnel kept special vigil on every activity.
Namazi Shaheed Akhtar said, “Namaz was conducted peacefully. I would like to give this message that everyone should live together. I want to say that Sambhal city is a city of peace. Our city should become the same as it was before. I would like to request the police administration not to harass those who were not involved in this, so that markets can open in the district. This information has been spread among the people that some people are not at home, hence people are scared. I want this fear spread among the people to end.”
Another namazi said, “People came just like before. Everyone offered namaz. People offered Namaz amid heavy security arrangements. The administration also remained ready on its side. An appeal was made to the people not to spread any kind of false message. At present there is a peaceful atmosphere. There is a little tension left, that too will go away in a few days.”
