Pali : Rajasthan is a big state, but a small district here has come into discussion and which is known as Pali. A shocking revelation has come to light in a campaign started here regarding cancer. People of Pali city consume so much tobacco and gutkha every day that they do not even eat grains every day. Actually, this was revealed during the meeting of the medical department of the district.
Tobacco free youth campaign started
District CMHO Dr. Vikas Marwal said that we have planned to start a Tobacco Free Youth Campaign. Dr. Marwal said that more than four lakh people in the entire city are consuming tobacco in some form or the other. There are a number of women among them and a large number of youth are also participating. Four lakh people are spending around Rs 2 crore every day on tobacco and gutkha. The entire city would not even eat as much grain as tobacco is being consumed in a day. Every day about eight hundred new people are starting this bad addiction.
We can save from this expenditure of two crores every day…
Dr. Marwal said that we are now starting from schools. They are going to schools and informing children about its bad effects so that new children do not get involved in it. We are running this campaign for about two months and every section of the society is being connected with it. The hope is that this daily expenditure of Rs 2 crore can be prevented from increasing further and later this expenditure can also be reduced.
