Jodhpur : In this era of inflation, where people spend lakhs and crores of rupees in the name of marriage. But in Jodhpur, Rajasthan, there is an institute which gets the people of poor families married for just Rs 1 to stop the wasteful expenditure in the name of marriage. This unique initiative is being run for the people of Muslim society in Jodhpur. Which is being run by ‘Marwar Sheikh Syed Mughal Pathan Vikas Sansthan’. This institute has got about 110 people married and settled them in the last 9 years. The expenses of this marriage are borne by 140 people of the Muslim community at their own level. Whereas poor needy people spend only Rs 1 for marriage. Every year, about 15 to 20 couples are married by the institute on the basis of innovation. On the coming 20 October 2024, the institute will organize its 10th mass marriage program. In this event, more than 15 couples will be married.
What is the aim of the institute
The aim of the institute is that in the name of marriage, many wedding functions are organized for 4 to 5 days. Along with this, lakhs of rupees are spent in the competition of show-off. This has a great impact on the lower middle class families. In such a situation, getting the poor and needy married for just Rs. 1 is a unique initiative. Apart from getting the marriage done, every couple is given household items and the bride is also given essential makeup items as gifts. Former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and Vasundhara Raje have also praised their work through letters of appreciation for this unique initiative.
So far around 150 couples have got married
Haji Hamim Bakhsh of the Muslim community said that we started this initiative in the year 2002. Its main objective has been to help the poor needy families of the society. We started this for those people who live below the poverty line in the society and are unable to get their children married financially, and we also get their Nikah done for a nominal fee of just Rs 1. We also give them household items as gifts. So far, we have got about 150 couples married. On October 20, once again, we will get the Nikah done for poor needy families for Rs 1. Through this, we also want to give the message to the public to stop unnecessary expenditure in the name of marriage. Through this effort of ours, food is also arranged for 100-100 family members of the bride and groom getting married. Where food for about 10 to 15 thousand people is served in this mass marriage and the bride and groom getting married are also given necessary household items by us. It is often seen that the financial condition of the family is not good. The girls in their family have crossed the marriageable age. We give priority to such people and arrange their Nikah for just Rs. 1.
