Lucknow, December 2 (IANS). Under the chairmanship of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the State Co-operative Dairy Federation gave a presentation at his official residence on Monday. The Chief Minister directed that proper training should be given to the workers associated with the Milk Cooperative Society and necessary equipment should be provided to them. Healthy competition should be developed among milk cooperative societies and milk unions in the state. For this, milk cooperative societies should establish communication with every village and farmers and carry forward their work in a better way.
CM Yogi said that farmers should be made aware about rearing better breed of milch animals to increase milk production. Also, farmers should be trained scientifically for rearing milch animals. This will increase milk productivity in dairy unions and the income of farmers will also increase. Half of the population has an important role in all these works. The dairy sector has proven to be a powerful medium to increase the self-reliance of women. Balini Milk Producer in Bundelkhand region is the best example of this. Women’s participation in milk cooperative societies and milk unions should be further promoted.
The Chief Minister said that accountability should be fixed at every level in milk unions and targets should be set. Quality testing work should be improved by increasing the capacity of milk collection. Dairy Federation should develop better models to make the dairy sector more beneficial for the farmers. Those doing good work in the dairy sector should be encouraged. Compressed bio gas plants should be set up from cow dung. The state government will provide land for their establishment.
In the meeting, officials informed that this year the dairy plants operating in the state are continuously trying to do better in relation to their installed capacity. There has been an increase in milk procurement and milk sales this year compared to last year. Milk collection is being done directly from producers through milk cooperative societies. Technical facilities are being provided to farmers to increase milk production. Continuous work is being done to provide good quality milk at reasonable prices to urban consumers.
It is noteworthy that at present 18 cluster milk unions are working in the state. Dairy plants are being operated by PCDF in Bareilly, Prayagraj, Moradabad, Jhansi, Azamgarh, Ayodhya, Lucknow, Meerut, Kannauj, Gorakhpur and Kanpur. Dairy plant is being operated by NDDB in Varanasi. The process of operating dairy plants through NDDB in Kannauj, Gorakhpur and Kanpur is under process.
