New Delhi, November 12 (IANS). America’s newly elected President Donald Trump is advocating increasing tariffs due to his ‘America First’ policy. At the same time, they also realize that because of China, India is going to have an important place in their economic agenda. This statement was given by veteran investor Mark Mobius on Tuesday.
Speaking exclusively to IANS, Mobius said the biggest advantage of the threat of higher tariffs is that both countries will at least come to the table for talks.
Elaborating further, he said that this means that representatives of India and America will come to the table for talks and work on a program that is suitable for both the parties. In this, American companies will get the Indian market. At the same time, Indian companies will get the American market.
Mobius further told IANS that America’s strong economy means strong American companies, which will have the ability to invest in domestic as well as global markets. In such a situation, investment in India is likely to increase in the coming time.
According to the veteran investor, one of the reasons why Trump is advocating imposing more tariffs on China is China not following the rules of the World Trade Organization (WTO) and using those rules only for its own benefit. There is a lot of anger in America due to this.
Trump’s return to power has sent a message to the world that he will now take the domestic economy on a fast growth path with many new measures.
According to Mobius, many people believe that increasing tariffs is negative not only for foreigners but also for the American people, but the fact is that increasing tariffs will bring more revenue to the US government and will reduce the fiscal deficit. . Most businesses around the world will eventually be able to adjust to these measures.
Under the Trump administration, businesses will also have to change their supply channels. The lower taxes that President Trump is going to impose on companies in America will result in a reduction in overall costs.
