Indian women’s hockey team will now face China in the final of Asian Champions Trophy.

Rajgir/Patna, 19 November (IANS). The Indian women’s hockey team defeated Japan 2-0 in the semi-finals of the Women’s Asian Champions Trophy 2024 at the Rajgir Hockey Stadium on Monday. Navneet Kaur (48′) scored the first goal for the team in the last quarter. After this Lalremsiami (56′) scored the goal. This confirmed their final match against China on Wednesday.

The Indian hockey team has made it to the finals of the Women’s Asian Champions Trophy. Indian players performed amazingly against Japan in the semi-finals. Team India continued its unbeaten campaign and defeated Japan 2-0 in the semi-finals.

Neither India nor Japan could score any goal in the first 45 minutes. He kept struggling. India continuously got penalty corners, but could not convert them into goals.

Indian women players kept the ball under their control most of the time and maintained control over the match. India created many chances to score in the beginning of the match, but were not successful in scoring in the first three quarters. However, the team made a comeback in the last minutes of the match and won the match.

After the Indian team’s victory in the semi-finals of the Women’s Asian Hockey Championship, captain Salima Tete expressed happiness over the performance of her team. He told that the team’s goal was only victory, and for this all the players worked hard together.

The Indian captain said, “We had only one goal and that is to win at any cost. Now whether it is by one goal or more, because a win is a win. When in the beginning we were struggling to score goals, Still we did not give up, the team played unitedly and won in the end.

Referring to the strong defense of the opposing team in the semi-finals, he said, “Their defense was very good. Deepika tried hard, but the defense of the opposing team was strong. Especially in the third quarter, we faced a tough competition.

When asked about the final, Salima said that the team will now take the field with full confidence. He said that we have learned a lot from the semi-finals. We will work on our strategy and strengthen every aspect. We will have only one goal in the final and that is to win with sportsmanship.
