India’s PC market at highest level with 4.49 million units in July-September

New Delhi, November 27 (IANS). India’s traditional PC market (desktops, notebooks and workstations) sold 4.49 million units in the July-September period this year, up 0.1 per cent quarter-on-quarter. This information was given in a recent report.

According to the International Data Corporation (IDC) report, e-commerce sales usually start around the second week of October, this time it started in late September, leading to a surge in PC shipments.

Bharat Shenoy, research manager, IDC India and South Asia, said brands took advantage of e-tail sales by offering deep discounts, cashback and bundled accessories.

“Many brands also kept prices the same across their brand stores and offline channels like Large Format Retail stores (LFRs), leading to the second highest consumer quarter in history,” he said.

Notebook and workstation categories witnessed marginal growth of 2.8 per cent and 2.4 per cent respectively on year-on-year basis. Online festival sales boosted demand for premium notebooks (above $1,000), which grew 7.6 percent.

The commercial segment grew 4.4 percent year-on-year, while the enterprise segment grew 9.6 percent.

HP Inc led the market with 29 per cent share, topping the charts in both commercial and consumer segments with 34.3 per cent and 24.8 per cent share respectively.
