Indigo refutes the report that included it among the world’s worst airlines

New Delhi, December 4 (IANS). Budget airline IndiGo on Wednesday refuted the report in which IndiGo has been included in the ranking of the world’s worst airlines this year.

In the ‘AirHelp Score Report 2024’, the domestic airline has been ranked 103rd out of 109 airlines. In this index, Air India’s ranking is 61st and Air Asia’s ranking is 94th.

The statement issued by the airline said that the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) publishes monthly data regarding the airline’s punctuality and customer complaints. IndiGo has consistently scored high marks in punctuality and has one of the lowest customer complaint ratios for an airline of its size and scale of operations.

IndiGo further said that the data released by AirHelp’s survey “does not reflect their sample size from India nor does it take into account the methodology or compensation guidelines used by the global aviation industry, thereby implicating its reliability.” But doubts arise.”

According to DGCA data, during the nine-month period (January-September), budget airline IndiGo carried over 7.25 crore passengers, taking its market share to 61.3 per cent. After this, Air India, operated by Tata Group, flew more than 1.64 crore passengers. The airline’s market share was 13.9 percent.

IndiGo operates around 2,100 daily flights with its fleet of over 380 aircraft and the airline connects to over 85 domestic destinations and over 30 international destinations.

Brussels Airlines, Qatar Airways and United Airlines take the top three spots in the AirHelp report.

The annual report from Airhelp, a company specializing in passenger compensation claims, covers data from January to October. It used factors such as global customer claims, on-time performance and feedback from passengers from 54 countries to rank the airlines, also assessing aspects such as food quality, seating comfort and crew service.
