Jerusalem, December 1 (IANS). The Israeli military claimed on Sunday that it shot down a ballistic missile launched from Yemen before it entered Israeli airspace.
The army said in a statement that the missile triggered sirens in several cities in central Israel, according to Xinhua news agency.
The local council said fragments of a missile or interceptor fell on a kindergarten playground in the community of Zur Hadassah near Jerusalem, causing some damage.
According to Palestinian media reports, some fragments of this missile also fell in Halhul near Hebron city in the West Bank. However, no information has been received about anyone getting injured.
Earlier, Houthi media outlets reported that the group launched a ballistic rocket toward Israel early Sunday morning. Residents near Yemen’s Red Sea port city of Hodeidah wrote on social media that they saw a large rocket speeding north.
Let us tell you that from November 2023, the Houthi group has launched rocket and drone attacks on Israel and targeted ships “associated with Israel” in the Red Sea. The Houthi rebels say they are doing so in solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza who have been hit by Israeli military action.
