Israeli air strike on residential apartment, 10 killed, 25 injured

Beirut, November 19 (IANS). At least 10 people were killed and 25 others were injured in an Israeli air strike targeting a residential apartment in central Beirut. This information was given by local TV channel Al-Jadid. The densely populated area of Jakak Blot area was targeted in the air strike.

According to Xinhua news agency, the victims were taken to the hospital and citizens were appealed to donate blood.

This was the second consecutive day that Israel attacked central Beirut. Israeli air attacks have created fear among the citizens. Many people have left their homes and gone to safe places.

What was the target of the air strike is not yet known.

On Sunday, Israel carried out an airstrike on the office of Syria’s Baath Party. The office is located between the Ras al-Naba area and the Sodeco Square commercial center in central Beirut.

Two air-to-surface missiles were fired in the attack, which killed Hezbollah’s media chief Mohammed Afif and seven others.

Israel launched another attack on Sunday evening. The target of this attack was Mahmoud Madi, an operations officer on Hezbollah’s southern front.

The attack hit an electronics shop owned by the Maadi family on Mar Elias Street in Beirut, killing three people and injuring several others.

The Israeli army has been carrying out air strikes on Lebanon since September 23. It has also launched a ‘limited’ ground campaign across the border, reportedly aimed at weakening Hezbollah. At the same time, the Lebanese group is also retaliating by firing missiles at Israel.

On October 8, 2023, Hezbollah started firing rockets at Israel in solidarity with Hamas in Gaza. The latest developments are an extension of this conflict.
