Israeli air strikes continue, 36 killed, 17 injured

Beirut, 26 November (IANS). At least 36 people were killed and 17 others were injured in Israeli air strikes in southern and eastern Lebanon.

An Israeli air strike on Baalbek-Hermel province in eastern Lebanon killed 11 people, the official National News Agency (NNA) reported on Monday. These include eight people in a residential apartment in Nabi Chit village and three others in Harmel.

According to the NNA, Israeli air strikes on southern Lebanon killed 25 people. These include nine in Marakeh village, three in Ain Baal village, two in Ghazih city, 10 in Tire district and one in Yohmor village. 17 people were also injured in the tyre.

On Monday, Hezbollah fired rockets at the Shraga base, the administrative headquarters of Israel’s Golani Brigade Command, north of the occupied city of Acre, NNA reported.

The report said Hezbollah also attacked Israeli forces in two moshavim in northern Israel and the Malkiyeh settlement.

According to Xinhua news agency, Hezbollah targeted Israeli forces taking shelter in a house in Al-Bayada, causing several casualties.

On Monday, the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) condemned the continued attacks on the Lebanese Armed Forces on the social media platform X.

UNIFIL called it a “gross violation of UN Security Council Resolution 1701 and international humanitarian law, which limit the use of violence against non-combatants.”

UNIFIL appealed to all parties involved in the conflict to resolve their differences through dialogue rather than violence.

The Lebanese Army says that the Israeli Army has repeatedly targeted its soldiers recently. On Sunday, an Israeli airstrike targeted a Lebanese army post in the Ameria axis on the Qalaleh-Tayer road in southwestern Lebanon, killing one soldier and wounding 18 others.

The Israeli army has been carrying out air strikes on Lebanon since September 23. It has also launched a ‘limited’ ground campaign across the border, reportedly aimed at weakening Hezbollah.
