Israel’s responsibility to stop humanitarian disaster in Gaza: China

Beijing, November 13 (IANS). The United Nations Security Council organized the conference. On this occasion, China’s permanent representative to the UN, Fu Chong, appealed to Israel to cooperate extensively with UN and other humanitarian organizations to ensure the safety and convenience of humanitarian organizations.

Fu Chong said that humanitarian matter should not be made a political matter. This is the basic bottom line set out in international humanitarian law. But throughout the 13-month-long conflict in Gaza, civilians have been repeatedly deprived of basic needs and the humanitarian bottom line has been repeatedly violated.

Fu Chong also said that the biggest challenge for humanitarian relief in Gaza is not insufficient supplies, but restrictions on humanitarian access. Israel must immediately remove all barriers to the transportation of humanitarian goods by opening all border crossings.

Fu Chong said that achieving a permanent ceasefire in Gaza as soon as possible and enhancing the implementation of the two-state solution are the basic path to end the fighting and restore peace. Israel should listen to the voice of the international community and stop military action in Gaza.
