Patna, 6 December (IANS). Janata Dal United (JDU) chief spokesperson Neeraj Kumar has expressed deep concern over the violence in Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh. Talking to news agency IANS on Friday, Neeraj Kumar reacted to the statement of Sambhal Police in which the police had said that there has been a loss of property worth about one crore rupees in this incident and it will be recovered from the miscreants.
Responding to the statement of Sambhal Police, Neeraj Kumar described the incident as sad and painful. Describing this violence as a serious social issue, he said that this incident has worried the entire society. This is naturally a topic on which the entire society should think unitedly. To stop such incidents, we need not only law and order but also a strong social fabric.
He said that competent laws are already in place to deal with such cases, but it is also important that these laws can be implemented effectively. Giving an example, he said that in the fight against Naxalism in Bihar, we were successful in controlling Naxalism through Panchayati Raj system and reservation. Similarly, controlling incidents like Sambhal is also a social responsibility.
Neeraj Kumar said that law and order cannot be maintained by creating fear. Harmony and mutual trust in the society should first be strengthened, so that resolution of such issues becomes possible. He said that we need a strategy in which there is mutual harmony and understanding among the people, so that incidents of violence can be reduced and peace can be established in the society.
In the Sambhal violence case, on Thursday, SP Krishna Kumar Vishnoi had said that two shells of 7.65 mm and two cartridges of 12 bore were found. ‘Made in USA’ is written on these cartridges. Earlier, foreign cartridges belonging to Pakistan Army factory were found. So far, a total of 10 foreign cartridges have been recovered, which are banned in India. He had said that no security agency in India uses these foreign cartridges. The forensic team will take opinion from ballistic experts and hand over this evidence to the police. After this further action will be taken.
He had said that 29 policemen were injured in this incident. Four people had died. So far 34 people have been arrested and names of 83 people have been revealed. Photographs of more than 400 people have been identified. Additionally, the number of people who have caused damage to public or private property has almost been estimated.
