It is not impossible to raise funds for Jharkhand’s ‘Maiyan Samman Yojana’: Finance Minister Radhakrishna Kishore

Ranchi, December 12 (IANS). Jharkhand Finance Minister Radhakrishna Kishore has said that the Rs 11,695 crore supplementary budget passed in the state assembly on Thursday is in line with the circumstances and needs of the state. Talking to the media after the conclusion of the first special session of the Assembly, he said that it is not an impossible task to raise additional funds for the money we are spending in the ‘Maiyan Samman Yojana’.

On the question of surrender of budget amount of many departments, the Finance Minister said that the amount of Rs 1,697 crore has not been surrendered on the instructions of the government. It was an election year. Five months passed before the elections. In such a situation, the departments which could not spend the amount, saved it from being surrendered and used it for ‘Maiyan Samman Yojana’ and free electricity bills.

The Finance Minister said that previous governments have also been doing this. Even in the election year, the state government has generated 42 percent revenue. This is an example of efficient management. During the discussion in the House, the opposition MLAs did not talk about the financial provisions of the supplementary budget. He kept giving political speeches.

Earlier, while replying to the discussion on supplementary budget in the Assembly, the Finance Minister said that we will generate the necessary amount for ‘Maiyan Samman Yojana’. To increase revenue, we are considering adopting Odisha’s mineral royalty model.

The Finance Minister said that ‘Maiyan Samman Yojana’ is being satirised, but it should be understood that women were not able to raise money for common illnesses. Today those people are happy that the government is giving them something. Now women will not have to stretch their hands to buy medicines. This money will pass through the market and reach the government treasury in the form of tax revenue.

Kishore said that BJP government was in Jharkhand for a total of 13 years and 62 days. When Jharkhand was in its ‘childhood’, what did you do to irrigate it? At that time nothing happened to strengthen the rural economy. On election night these people were busy only in buying votes. BJP did not have any slogan of development, there was only talk of infiltration.
