Jaipur 23 thousand mines will be able to operate without environmental clearance

Jaipur : The Supreme Court has extended the deadline for issuing state level environmental clearance to 23 thousand mines of the state till March 31, 2025. The bench of Chief Justice Sanjeev Khanna and Justice Sanjay Kumar gave this order while accepting the appeal of the state government. The Supreme Court has made it clear that these mines in the state will have to apply for environmental clearance to the State Environmental Authority (SEIAA) within three weeks of the date of the order.

In fact, the National Green Tribunal (NGT) had asked the mines which have received district level environmental clearance to get environmental clearance at the state level by November 7. Due to lack of approval, there was a danger of closure of these mines. After this the government filed an appeal in the Supreme Court. On November 8, the government got interim relief from the Supreme Court.
